Richard Wagner (1813-1883)

Richard Wagner was born 1813. He is one of the most known composer of the19th century. He is the creator of the “music drama”. He presentedthe poetry as the begetting and the music as the bearing principle. He wasa revolutionary of the opera and joined Teutonic mythology with musical genius. With the music of Wagner, the musical Romantic reached its zenith. Operaslike “Der fliegende Holländer” “Tannhäuser”or “Lohengrin” have been the height of the romantic opera. Withhis opera tetra logy “The Ring of the Nibelung”, Wagner’sidea, the creation of a musical complete art work in the meaning of theunification of all arts, succeeded entirely. King Ludwig II of Bavaria wasone of the most enthusiastic followers of Richard Wagner. He loved the musicof Wagner like no other and promoted him generously. In 1871 Wagner movedtogether with his wife Cosima, a daughter of Liszt, to Bayreuth. One yearlate he laid the foundation-stone for an opera house in Bayreuth. The famousBayreuth “Festival House” was inaugurated in 1876 with the firstperformance of the complete opera tetra logy of the “Ring”. Sincethat time the “Bayreuth Opera Festival”, which is held every yearin August, is the yearly zenith of the opera world and is visited by highestprominence from around the world. The opera tetra logy “the Ring ofthe Nibelung” is the most extensive work of Wagner. The music, “theRide of the Valkyries”, which we have chosen for our Richard WagnerTeddy Bear, belongs to “the Valkyries”, the second part of “theRing”. It is one of the most famous motifs of Wagner’s compositions.1833 Wagner passed away in Venice

Mohiar, finestMaterial for Teddybears

Mohair is made from one of nature`s finest sources for natural fiber, the Angora goat. This special fur is very long and naturally wavy. When sheared(this usually occurs twice a year) it is called mohair. The term "mohair"is derived from the Arabian word "Muhayar" which literally means "the fabricof goat hair". Despite the name similarity there is no relation to the Angorarabbit.

The collection of this noble hair does not require any animals to beharmed!

Angora goats are a delicate animal and are very sensitive to temperaturechange. This requires a dependable mild climate. Summers not so hot thatthe meadows dry out and winters not too cold. In the entire world there areonly three regions that consistently meet these ideal conditions: Texas,USA, South Africa and Turkey.

The fur of the Angora go at is naturally white, curly and shiny. Itsfibers have a remarkable strength when made into a pile fabric. Thesecharacteristics together with the noble appearance, silky feel and sheenmake mohair one of the finest fibers offered by nature.
